My Story

At Kata Pneuma, we believe every person carries a story—and sometimes, life changes that story in ways we never expected.

Whatever the loss, the experience is deeply personal.

My work is deeply rooted in understanding loss and grief across the lifespan. Grief is not limited to death. We grieve relationships, expectations, identities, abilities, opportunities, careers, routines, and versions of ourselves that we thought would continue. An athletic injury, academic disappointment, divorce, job loss, retirement, or major life transition can each create a profound sense of loss.

I don't believe people need to be “fixed.” I believe one needs a compassionate place to process what has happened, reconnect with the self, and discover what is possible from where one is now.

Because one is more than flesh and bones - Claudia

My Education & Experience

S. Claudia Pozas, M.Ed., M.Div.

For nearly two decades, S. Claudia Pozas has devoted her life to walking alongside children, youth, families, and individuals as they learn, grow, navigate change, and find their way through difficult seasons of life.

Her journey began in education, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M International University. Her desire to understand not only how children learn, but also how schools, families, and communities can better support them, led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Educational Administration in 2014. In 2016, she earned a second Master’s degree in School Counseling, further developing her understanding of the emotional, developmental, academic, and relational needs of children and adolescents.

Her educational journey continued in a different but complementary direction when she earned a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2021. This experience deepened her understanding of the spiritual dimensions of the human experience and expanded the perspective she brings to her work with individuals and families.

S. Claudia Pozas spent nearly 20 years serving the students and families of the Laredo Independent School District. Approximately half of those years were spent as an elementary school teacher, where she had the privilege of working with children during some of the most formative years of their lives. She then transitioned into professional school counseling, spending the other half of her career helping students navigate academic challenges, personal struggles, relationships, transitions, and the many emotions that accompany growing up.

Since 2023, she has continued serving others through contract work while establishing her private practice in Laredo, Texas. Her work has given her the opportunity to serve an exceptionally broad range of individuals—from children as young as three years old and their families to adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, and older adults into their 80s.

With degrees and professional experience spanning Early Childhood Education, Educational Administration, School Counseling, and Divinity, S. Claudia Pozas brings a unique breadth of perspective to her counseling work. Her nearly 20 years in public education, combined with her experience in private practice and contract counseling, have allowed her to see the human journey across generations.

Counseling, for S. Claudia Pozas, is an opportunity to honor the whole person.
